Entertaining at the New House

grill.jpgOver the weekend, Lisa and I shifted our attention from working on the house to enjoying the house.  Thursday evening, we had our friend Scott over for a delicious barbequed pork dinner.  It was really nice to show off the house, and to eat outside in the patio with the fountain going.

Saturday, my friend Rob was in town from Big Bear, so he came over to hang out during the day.  We made burgers and rode bikes up to 17th street to get some frozen yogurt.  At around 5:30, we went over to Ryan’s house, where a big 4th of July party was going on.  The party was not really Lisa’s scene, so she left early (luckily the party was only a few blocks away from our house so she could ride her bike home).  Rob and I stayed late though and watched as fireworks and alcohol combined to form quite a display on the street.  After the party, we rode home and Rob became the first guest to stay in our new guest room.

Sunday, Tracy and Peter came down from LA with their kids Zoh and Remy to have dinner with us.  We tried making the same pork recipe that we made for Scott, but the pork chops were too thin and they didn’t come out quite as good.  It was still a great time though, and we also took a walk around the neighborhood so the kids could play on the swings at a nearby school and Max could run around a bit.

It was a lot of fun having so many visitors this weekend, and it was especially nice to be able to walk and bike around the neighborhood.  We still have a lot of projects to complete around the house, but for now we’re trying to pace ourselves and enjoy spending time with our friends while it’s still summer.
